Opal Armeda (Rilenge) Sluder

Opal Armeda Sluder, 91, of Shelburn, passed away at Cobblestone Crossing in Terre Haute, on Friday November 4, 2022.  She was born in Shelburn, on August 11, 1931, to Garnet Rilenge and Anna (Hoban) Rilenge.  Opal grew up and stayed in the community that she loved. On August 22, 1948, she married the love of her life Paul E Sluder and together they raised three children. She was a member of the Shelburn Eastern Stars chapter 209 for over 50 years; served as the Worthy Matron, and served as Deputy of District 7.  She was a devoted member of her home church The Carlisle Christian Church.  Opal and Paul ran a small grocery store in Shelburn and had worked at Perfection Packaging. Opal kept the books and shared in the running of Paul Sluder & Son Trucking. She was a big supporter of the North Central PTO and the Booster club and had helped with the Local Election Board for many years. She is preceded in death by her parents, brothers Glenn, Davon, sisters Mary, Jeanette, Cleo, Maxine, her husband Paul E Sluder in 2003, and her son Michael Eugene Sluder in 2022.  

Survivors include her sons Rick (Ruth) Sluder, Perry (Patty) Sluder,  Grandchildren, Richard, Lance, Joshua, Beau, Kylie and several great grandchildren.  

Services will be at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, November 9, 2022, at Holmes Memorial Chapel with Brother Bill Sam Phegley officiating. Visitation will be on Wednesday from 11:00 a.m. until the time of services.  Burial will be at Little Flock Cemetery.
