Paul Richard Jeffries, 87, of Carlisle passed away on July 7, 2021 at his home with his family by his side. He was born in Bedford IN, on May 19, 1934 to William Edward and Nora (Puckett) Jeffries. Paul was the last surviving member of his family. As a young child Paul was baptized in the Baptist Church, was a 1953 graduate of Bedford High School, had joined the Army and had served in the Korean War as a medic. He had been the manager of Custom Farm Services for many years and had later owned and operated Sullivan County Seed and Chemicals, a farm store in Carlisle. Then Paul was a handy man doing various jobs for people in the community. He was a member of the Carlisle Odd Fellows, the Carlisle Masonic Lodge, Scottish Rite Valley of Terre Haute.
Paul was preceded in death by his parents, his brothers, James, Orville, Herman, Karl, Glen, James Russell, sisters Dovie Bundy, Edna Sears, Helen Hackney, Barbara Collier, and a son in-law Gary Roe.
Survivors include his wife of 65 years, Carolyn (Taylor) Jeffries, whom he married on December 25, 1955, a daughter Robin Jeffries Roe and her companion Mark Melcho, 2 grandchildren Brandon Ellis, Evan Ellis, several nieces, nephews and other family.
Services will be on Monday July 12, 2021 at 11:00 a.m. at Holmes Memorial Chapel with Pastors Bill Sam Phegley officiating. Visitation will be on Sunday July 11, 2021 from 1:00 to 5:00 p.m. Burial will be at Odd Fellows Cemetery. Military honors will be given by the Sullivan County Honor Guard. The family suggest that if friends so desire memorial contributions may be made to the Good Samaritan Hospice, 601 S 9th st. Vincennes IN. 47591 envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
