Richard Brent Carty

Richard Brent Carty, 66, of Sullivan went home to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ with his family by his side at IU Health, in Indianapolis on January 28, 2023. He was born in Sullivan, In on April 8, 1956, to William Carty and Barbara (Brown) Carty. 

Brent married his beloved wife Robin (Cox) Carty on May 3, 1980. Brent was a 1974 graduate of Sullivan High School and had received his Associate degree from Ivy Tech. He was employed at AES power plant in Petersburg and previously at Hoosier Energy in Merom. Brent had been a member of the Turman Twp Fire Department for several years and involved in the Men's Ministry. He loved the 4th of July and fireworks and enjoyed being a project manager for family and friends, hunting, and fishing. The most important things in his life were his family and his church. Preceding him in death are his father William and infant daughter Mandy Carty. 

Surviving are his wife of 42 years Robin, mother Barbara, his son Brandon (Teresa) Carty, his daughter Andrea (Wes) Cox, mother Barbara, twin brother Brian Carty, brother Larry (Karen) Carty, sisters Karen (Randy) Pigg, Ann (Rex) Dalton, granddaughters, Quinn Cox, Alexus Carty, and Jada Spurlock, as well as other family and friends. 

Services will be at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday February 2, 2023, at Holmes Memorial Chapel with Pastor Ben Wetherington and Tim Lueking officiating. Visitation will be on Wednesday from 4-8:00 p.m.  Burial will be at Center Ridge Cemetery.
