Obituary

It is with heavy hearts that we share the passing of Ronald Lawrence Lowery Jr. on August 26, 2023. He was born to Ronald L. Lowery Sr. and Donita Kay Reel Lowery on May 31,1964. He passed peacefully surrounded by his loving family after a short illness. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Sullivan.

Ron graduated from Sullivan High School in the 100th class of 1982. Shortly after graduating he married his life long love, Joanna B. Webb, daughter of Lyle and Betty June Webb. Ron and Joanna were united in marriage at the First Baptist Church of Sullivan on November 6, 1982.

Ron was preceded in death by his grandparents, Don and Catherine Reel of Sullivan, Charles and Helen Piper of Terre Haute, along with his mother, Donita Kay.

Rons greatest joys came from being a husband, father, and grampa. He was the greatest husband for over 40 years, sharing many happy occasions with Joanna. Even when rough times happened, they knew they had a love and devotion strong enough to see them through and they survived hand in hand as best friends.

Ron was an amazing father to Alisha May, born in April of 1992, who affectionately sometimes called him “Poppy”, and Ronald Lawrence III, born in November of 1993. He lived to work being a good provider for his family and always teaching them how to be independent. They will have many wonderful memories of times spent with their Dad. He was their biggest fan at ball games, sporting events and at the go-kart racing tracks. Ms. Sadie Ann Lowery was born in March of 2017, and Ron proudly carried the tile of Grampa. Sadie filled his heart to overflowing. He enjoyed her wonderful personality, teaching her to swim, watching her sing and dance, and sharing ice cream together. His happiest time was when his family all gathered around the supper table and would share their day with him.

Ron was proud to be self-employed as owner/operator. He started Lowery Trucking in the 1980’s and L&L Disposal in 2005. He had a strong work ethic, and it was very important to be a good role model for his children and granddaughter.

Ron could engage in conversation with anyone and never met a stranger. He was a giving person with a super-sized heart.  Those left to miss him and cherish his memory are his wife, Joanna; daughter Alisha; son, Ron; granddaughter, Sadie Ann; father, Ronald L. Lowery Sr. of Westfield and Aunt, Suzanne Piper of Terre Haute. Bonus brothers, Gary and Andy Webb, Bob Meeks and Brian Deckard; bonus sisters, Sue Meeks, Amy Deckard and Debbie Webb, along with several nieces and nephews, great aunts, great uncles and cousins.

Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Holmes Memorial Chapel with Private graveside services.
