Ronald Leo Reed

RONALD LEO REED, 74, formerly of Sullivan, IN passed away June 13, 2021 at his home in Louisville, KY. Ron was married to Zora (Stultz) Reed for 52 years.

Ron loved his family. He is survived by his two children, Susan (Jeff) Wells, Omaha, NE and James (Erin) Reed, Louisville, KY and three grandchildren, who he was very proud of, Treyton Wells, Patterson and Addie Reed and his brother Victor (Linda) Reed, DeKalb, IL and several nieces and nephews.

Ron is preceded in death by his parents, Rev. Leo T. Reed and Marjorie (Tharp) Reed.

Ron was a proud U.S. Army veteran and former Sullivan Co. Sheriff’s reserve deputy. He retired from Ohio Valley Gas after 44 years. Ron was the owner and head instructor of Ron Reed Karate School in Sullivan for 28 years where he created and patented the martial arts style of Shoto-Jitsu. He also owned Reed’s Sport & Fitness and Sullivan Speedway.

He was an avid Harley-Davidson rider and traveled several states by bike with his wife and friends.

Ron attended Westport Road Baptist Church, Louisville, KY and was a member of Shelburn Baptist Church, Sullivan Masonic Lodge #263 and Sullivan American Legion Post 139.

Services will be at 12 noon on Wednesday June 16, 2021 at Holmes Memorial Chapel with Pastor Ben Wetherington officiating. Visitation will be held from  10 a.m. until the time of services at Noon.  Burial will be in Center Ridge Cemetery, Military services will be given by the Sullivan County Honor Guard.
