Sara Jane (Singleton) Nicol

Sara Jane Singleton Nicol, 76, of Carlisle, Indiana, went home to be with the Lord on November 7, 2022.  Sara was born in Princeton, Indiana on May 27, 1946 to Dorothy Mae McCandless Singleton and William Franklin Singleton.  She was the youngest of the family, having 9 older half siblings.  She graduated from Petersburg High School in 1964 and Oakland College in 1968.

Sara married Robert Jack Nicol on September 20, 1974.  Bob and Sara had two children, Sandra Christine (Christy) Nicol and James (Jim) Franklin Nicol.  In addition to being a loving mother and grandmother, Sara worked several years at Crane Naval Base and H&R Block.  In her spare time, Sara enjoyed playing softball, working in her yard, listening to her wind chimes chime, playing games of badminton with the grandchildren, and watching tennis matches.  Sara was an active member at Carlisle Christian Church for several years.  She served in several positions of the church and was recognized as an Elder Emeritus in 2022.

Sara was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and several other family members.  Sara is survived by her daughter Christy Nicol, son Jim (Amanda) Nicol, grandchildren Jack Nicol and Elizabeth Nicol.  She is also survived by stepchildren, step grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and other family members.

Services will be on Friday, November 11, 2022 at 1:00 p.m. at the Carlisle Christian Church in Carlisle, Indiana, with Pastor Bill Sam Phegley officiating.  Visitation will be on Friday from 11:00 a.m. until the time of services.  Graveside services will follow at Providence Cemetery.  In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Carlisle Christian Church.
