Steven R “Bubber” Unger, 67, of Oaktown, formerly of Merom, passed away on Saturday August 6, 2022 at Oakvillage Nursing Home, in Oaktown. He was born in Indianapolis on July 17, 1955 to Cloral Unger and Irene (Shipp) Unger. Steven was a 1973 graduate of Sullivan High School and had gone to work for the Local 841 Union. He then became a self employed Logger, loved drag racing, Nascar and Indy Racing. His favorite things were reading, watching old time movies and spending time with his family. Steven was a member of the Merom United Methodist Church, Carlisle Masonic Lodge #3, Free and Accepted Masons, Scottish Rite, Valley of Terre Haute, and Zorah Shrine of Terre Haute. Preceding him in death are his parents and a brother in-law Terry Pless Jr., and a infant brother James Duane Unger.
Survivors include his sisters Beth (David) Phegley, Lisa Pless and her companion John Farr, Rose (John) Doty, several nieces, nephews, cousins, and other family and several friends.
Services to celebrate his life will be at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday August 10, 2022, at the Merom Bluff Park, under the pavilion, with Pastor Eric Blevins officiating. Memorial Masonic Services will be given at the start of services. The family suggest that in-lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Merom United Methodist Church, envelopes will be available at the service.
