Sue Adams, 81, of Fairbanks, passed away on Thursday December 30, 2021, at the Gibson Family Center for Hospice, with her loving family by her side. She was born in Sullivan County on July 22, 1940 to Levi Laurens “Sport” Strain and Mary Ellen (Drake) Strain. Sue was a 1958 graduate of the first class from North Central High School. She worked on the Election Board, enjoyed genealogy and was a 4-H leader. The most important thing about Sue was that she was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She loved spending time with family and following grandchildren, great grandchildren sporting events. Sue was preceded in death by her parents, a brother Gerry (Jeanette) Strain, and sister Diane Strain.
Survivors include her loving husband of 61 years Robert “Bob” Adams, whom she married on December 3, 1960; sons Darin (Penny) Adams, Michael (Missy) Adams, Jamie (Martha) Adams, daughters, Lisa (Mark) Perry, Lori Stone, Amy (Paul) Mansfield, Grandchildren: Dustin (Olivia) Adams, Lauren (Joey) Kean, Heather Robbins, Brandon Robbins, Travis (Craig) Robbins, Justin Stone, Megan Stone, Cody (Maria) Adams, Cale (Aubrey) Adams, Anna Morrison, Sean Morrison, Jacob Adams, Great Grandchildren: Jayce Jimenez, Emmy Adams, Lydia Adams, Logan Kean, Baby Adams in May Step Grandchildren: Brooke (Jason) Mullins, Dustin (Alaina) Perry, Josh (Chelsea) Mansfield, Emily (David) Townsend And several other Step Great Grandchildren.
Services will be 11:00 a.m. on Thursday January 6, 2022, at Holmes Memorial Chapel with Pastor Dennis Alstott officiating. Visitation will be on Wednesday from 4-8:00 p.m. Burial will be at Pogue Cemetery. The family suggest that if friends so desire, memorial contributions may be made to the Gibson Family Center for Hospice. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home or www.myhospicevna.org
